Correlation of specific gravity and osmolality of urine in neonates and adults.

چکیده
There is good correlation between the specific gravity and osmolality of urine obtained from neonates and adults, if specimens contain neither protein nor glucose. The regression equations between specific gravity and osmolality, however, differ considerably between the two age groups, maturation to the adult regression occurring within the first 5 years of life. Specifically derived regression equations should therefore be used when predicting urine osmolality from measurement of specific gravity in neonates.

Quantification of Proteinuria with Urinary Protein to Osmolality Ratios in Children
Background: The ratio of urine protein to urine osmolality has recently been suggested as an accurate method to determine proteinuria. Objective: We studied the correlation of urine protein to urine osmolality ratio with 24-hr urinary protein excretion. Methods: 150 children aged 0.11–17 years admitted to the Department of Pediatric Nephrology were included in this study. Early morning urine s...
متن کاملWater Intake and Hydration Indices in Healthy European Adults: The European Hydration Research Study (EHRS).
Hydration status is linked with health, wellness, and performance. We evaluated hydration status, water intake, and urine output for seven consecutive days in healthy adults. Volunteers living in Spain, Germany, or Greece (n = 573, 39 ± 12 years (51.1% males), 25.0 ± 4.6 kg/m² BMI) participated in an eight-day study protocol. Total water intake was estimated from seven-day food and drink diarie...
متن کاملHydration status of pregnant women in West Jakarta.
BACKGROUND AND OBJECTIVES During pregnancy, the body exhibits dynamic changes in fluid composition. More than 50%of women experience nausea and vomiting during the first trimester. Studies of hydration status in pregnant women are limited, and not in tropical countries, like in Indonesia. The objective of this study was to investigate the hydration status and appropriate biomarkers for determin...

Background and Aim: Hypocalcaemia has been reported as a complication of phototherapy especially in premature neonates. However, the cause is unknown. The aim of this study was to evaluate the relation between serum and urinary levels of calcium in neonates under phototherapy and to answer the question that whether phototherapy-related hypocalcemia is associated with hypercalicuria or not.P...

Background: A variety of endocrine disorders can complicate pregnancy. Diabetes insipidus although uncommon, may have devastating effect on pregnancy outcome, if unrecognized and untreated. The etiology of diabetes insipidus is often unknown, many cases are likely autoimmune, with lymphocytic infiltration of the posterior pituitary gland. Massive polyuria, caused by failure of the renal tubular...
